Formed in August 2022, DNA Mavens LLC is committed to:


      Providing quality DNA case reviews, reviewing laboratory protocols and internal validations for accuracy and adherence to the FBI’s Quality                     Assurance Standards, ISO/IEC 17025 and SWGDAM Guidelines.

      Assisting lawyers in trial preparation with respect to DNA results and the possible implication of those results.

      Educating lawyers and triers of facts on DNA analysis results, providing impartial scientific opinions based on relevant published research/empirical         data.

      Challenging false and misleading testimony related to DNA analysis and data interpretation.

      Maintaining competency, skills and expertise through the review of current and applicable literature, attending national conferences and         participating in continuing education opportunities.


Founded in July 2022, DNA Mavens Forensic Services Inc. will be a one of a kind, non-profit forensic DNA laboratory located in Houston, Texas. Created to be a part of the solution to defender resource disparity, we will provide reliable, cost-effective forensic DNA analysis services while adhering to the highest standards of quality, objectivity and ethics. DNA Mavens Forensic Services Inc. will accomplish its mission by providing education, training, research and other services. We are eager to work with schools, universities and members of the legal and forensic communities, including defense attorneys, civil attorneys, prosecutors, law enforcement, judges and forensic laboratories.

Cynthia Cale

Forensic DNA Expert & Founder

Cynthia Cale, author of "Could Secondary DNA Transfer Falsely Place Someone at the Scene of a Crime?" and "Forensic DNA evidence is not infallible", is a Forensic DNA Analyst with over 20 years of experience at both public and private forensic laboratories with specialized training in autosomal and Y-STR analysis and probabilistic genotyping (STRmix). She has a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Biology from Illinois Wesleyan University and a Master of Science (MS) in Human Biology from the University of Indianapolis. Her thesis focused on the Impact of Duration of Contact on Indirect DNA Transfer.

India Henry

Forensic DNA Expert & Founder

India Henry is an enthusiastic scientist who specializes in forensic DNA analysis. She advocates for women empowerment and STEM enrichment and aims to make STEM education accessible to all. India graduated from Baylor University in 2007, with a Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science. She started her forensic science career in 2010 gaining experience in autosomal STR analysis and probabilistic genotyping (STRmix). In 2016, she received the "Chief of Police Unit Citation in recognition of exceptional performance of duty" for her participation in the processing of evidence involving a serial rapist. She is currently on a journey to obtain her MBA in Sales and Business Development, with a concentration in Project Management, at the University of Houston-Downtown. She enjoys spending quality time with her family, traveling, reading, and serving as a StemNoir Ambassador and a Girl Advocacy League member.

Marisil Wright-Pennant

Forensic DNA Expert & Founder

Marisil Wright-Pennant has a passion for helping people and this fueled her career path in Forensic DNA Analysis. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and a Master of Science degree in Forensic Science. She is also certified in Forensic DNA by the American Board of Criminalistics (ABC-DNA). She has garnered more than a decade worth of experience working in forensic laboratories both in Jamaica and in the United States. During this time she has worked intimately with autosomal STRs, Y-STRs and probabilistic genotyping (STRmix).

Dr. Krista Latham

Board Member

Dr. Krista Erin Latham is a Professor of Biology and Anthropology at the University of Indianapolis, where she has taught since 2007.  She is also the Director of the University of Indianapolis Human Identification Center.  She received her B.S. in Biology and Chemistry from the University of North Texas in 2000, her M.S. in Human Biology from the University of Indianapolis in 2003, and her M.A. and Ph.D. in Anthropology from Temple University in 2006 and 2008.  Dr. Latham is a Board-Certified Forensic Anthropologist (D-ABFA) and a Fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences. Her research investigates different aspects of skeletal biology, population genetics and  DNA transfer, persistence, prevalence and recovery. Dr. Latham has co-edited several books focusing on Forensic Anthropology and Human Identification, and has produced numerous scientific publications.  She currently serves as a Consulting Forensic Anthropologist for police, coroners, and pathologists in the Midwestern U.S. and has delivered numerous lectures for state and local agencies around the country.  Dr. Latham also serves as a DNA Expert in the U.S. Court System and provides Rapid DNA Reachback support for the Fishers Police Department in central Indiana .

Tiffany Roy MSFS, JD

Board Member

Tiffany Roy is a Forensic DNA expert with over sixteen years of forensic biology experience in both public and private laboratories in the United States. She holds a bachelor of science degree from Syracuse University, a Juris Doctor from Massachusetts School of Law, a graduate certificate in the area of Forensic Serology and DNA and Master of Science in the area of forensic science from the University of Florida. Roy is a member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, the Northeastern Association of Forensic Scientists and the Massachusetts Board of Bar Examiners. She is certified in the area of Forensic Biology by the American Board of Criminalistics. She has processed thousands of DNA samples and thousands of cases over the course of her career. She instructs undergraduates at University of Maryland Global Campus; Southern New Hampshire University and acts as a consultant for attorneys and the media in the area of forensic biology through her firm, ForensicAid, LLC. She has written three Forensic Science textbooks and been published in peer reviewed journals in the area of Human Factors as they relate to Forensic DNA Interpretation. She currently serves on the NIST Expert Working Group on Human Factors in Forensic DNA Analysis in the testimony and reporting subgroup.
